Picture quality
The U8QG uses quantum-dot color with a Mini-LED Pro full-array local-dimming backlight and Hisense's Hi-View AI Engine Pro. Tech Steve's initial picture sample appeared bright, colorful and detailed. The Anti-Reflection Pro screen treatment is intended to make the television easier to watch in rooms with ambient light. A complete assessment of black levels, blooming, viewing angles and image accuracy was not part of this initial setup.
HDR performance
HDR compatibility is broad, covering Dolby Vision, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10, HDR10+, HDR10+ Adaptive, HLG and Advanced HDR by Technicolor. Hisense advertises up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness for the series, but that claim is not a standardized size-by-size HDR measurement. The short demonstration showed strong apparent brightness, while sustained brightness, highlight accuracy and local-dimming behavior require a more comprehensive evaluation.
Gaming performance
The physical panel supports up to 165Hz at its native 3840 x 2160 resolution, with a manufacturer-specified 48-165Hz VRR range. Xbox testing confirmed 4K at 120Hz, Dolby Vision Gaming, VRR and ALLM, along with 120Hz support at 1440p and 1080p. AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and the configurable Game Bar strengthen its PC and console credentials. Game Booster 288 can reach up to 288Hz only at 1920 x 1080 over HDMI; it is not a native-resolution 288Hz mode. No measured input-lag result was established during the setup.
Motion handling
The native 165Hz panel and 48-165Hz VRR range provide a strong foundation for smooth gaming at native 4K resolution. The Xbox demonstration ran near 120 frames per second with VRR active. The initial setup did not include detailed sports, film-cadence or motion-interpolation testing.
Sound quality
The U8QG has a 4.1.2-channel integrated audio system with four ear-level channels, a built-in subwoofer and two up-firing channels. Console owners benefit from verified 4K/120Hz Dolby Vision Gaming, VRR and ALLM, while compatible PC users can take advantage of up to 4K/165Hz and a separate USB-C video input. Its 4.1.2-channel sound system and adjustable pedestal on the 55- through 85-inch versions also reduce the need for immediate accessories. The main tradeoff is connectivity: using HDMI 3 for eARC leaves only two HDMI inputs for source devices. The 100-inch model additionally requires careful planning because of its wide two-leg stand, 140-pound assembled weight and higher power draw. Buy the 55- through 85-inch sizes for the convenient central stand and strong gaming package; choose the 100-inch only when maximum screen size outweighs the installation demands.
