The ALR-C100 is the 100-inch version of AWOL Vision's Cinematic ALR fixed-frame series. It uses an eco-friendly TPU lenticular surface with reflective and light-absorbing layers that direct light from a UST projector toward viewers while reducing overhead-light reflections. The screen includes an aluminum frame, spring-tensioning components, wall brackets and installation tools.

Picture quality

With an ultra-short-throw projector positioned below the screen, the lenticular surface directs projected light toward the seating area while absorbing more light arriving from above. Tech Steve observed improved brightness and contrast compared with projecting onto his gray wall. Actual image brightness, color and detail still depend on the projector, image size, room lighting and setup accuracy. AWOL Vision specifies 0.6 peak gain and a 170-degree viewing angle.

HDR performance

The surface is compatible with projectors displaying HDR content, but it does not decode HDR or create additional dynamic range. HDR performance is determined primarily by the projector, source and room conditions.

Gaming performance

The passive screen introduces no gaming modes, VRR or ALLM features. Gaming resolution, refresh rate and input latency are determined by the projector and connected source device.

Motion handling

A passive projection screen has no native refresh rate or motion processing. Motion clarity depends on the projector, source frame rate and projector settings.

Sound quality

The screen contains no speakers or audio processing. A separate projector audio system, soundbar or home-theater speaker system is required.

Features and connectivity

There is no operating system or smart platform built into the screen. Streaming and app support come from the projector or an external media player.

Calibration notes

Install the screen with its marked top edge in the correct orientation and make sure the frame is square, tightly connected and evenly tensioned. Tech Steve cautions that loose assembly can contribute to blurry corners. Final projector alignment, focus, geometry and picture calibration should be completed only after the screen is securely mounted.

Models and configurations

100-inch ALR-C100: The version assembled by Tech Steve. It has an 88 x 49.8-inch viewing area, an approximately 88.8 x 50.6-inch overall frame and a listed weight of 22.3 pounds. It uses the seamless HBSP Black-Grid TPU surface.

120-inch ALR-C120: Uses the same screen technology, gray finish, 0.6 gain, 170-degree viewing angle and 0.4-inch bezel. Its viewing area is 105.4 x 60 inches, overall frame is approximately 106.2 x 60.8 inches and listed weight is 27.2 pounds.

132-inch ALR-C132: The largest documented seamless option. Its viewing area is 115.1 x 64.7 inches and listed weight is 37 pounds. Complete overall frame dimensions were not established.

150-inch ALR-C150: Provides a 130.7 x 73.5-inch viewing area, an approximately 131.5 x 74.3-inch overall frame and a listed weight of 54 pounds. This version joins two sections of ALR material, leaving a slight center gap or crease; shoppers wanting a seamless surface should consider the 132-inch model instead.

All four sizes are fixed-frame, 16:9 UST screens with the same documented HBSP Black-Grid TPU material, 0.6 peak gain, 170-degree viewing angle and 0.4-inch bezel. Choose the 100-inch ALR-C100 for a more manageable installation, the 120-inch for a larger theater presentation, or the 132-inch for the biggest seamless surface in the series. The 150-inch model delivers the largest image but should be reserved for shoppers willing to accept its center material join.
