Hisense U7SG Review: Bright Mini-LED Performance and Serious 165Hz Gaming
The 2026 Hisense U7SG combines quantum-dot color, Mini-LED full-array local dimming and a native 165Hz 4K panel. On the reviewed 65-inch model, Tech Steve found natural skin tones, strong color separation, solid black bars, limited blooming and unusually clean screen uniformity. Its matte anti-reflection treatment also makes it appealing for brighter rooms. Motion can look jittery at 24 frames per second until the custom judder control is adjusted, while performance and hardware vary meaningfully across the six available screen sizes.

Tech Steve reviewed the 65-inch U7SG using an Apple TV to switch manually among SDR, HDR and Dolby Vision output. Picture quality
The reviewed 65-inch U7SG produced natural skin tones, vivid but well-separated colors and an inky presentation when viewed from the front. Black letterbox bars remained solid in the movie demonstration. During the uniformity test, the center of the reviewed panel appeared notably clean, although slight blotchiness was visible toward the sides. The matte, low-reflection screen treatment is designed to reduce visible reflections in rooms with windows or other light sources. Off-axis performance was not fully covered in the available test commentary.
HDR performance
HDR footage showed clear specular highlights, strong color reproduction and good separation between subjects and backgrounds. Tech Steve found Dolby Vision IQ more practical than Dolby Vision Dark because it preserved more visible shadow detail. The series supports Dolby Vision, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10, HDR10+, HDR10+ Adaptive and HLG. Brightness claims are size-dependent: up to 2,000 nits at 55 inches, up to 3,000 nits from 65 through 100 inches and up to 4,000 nits for the Canadian 116-inch listing. These are manufacturer claims rather than independent measurements.
Gaming performance
Every U7SG size has a native 165Hz panel capable of a verified maximum of 165Hz at 4K. Native 165Hz Game Mode supports a stated 48–165Hz VRR range, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and ALLM. The 55- through 100-inch models provide four HDMI 2.1 inputs, while the 116-inch model has three HDMI 2.1 inputs plus USB-C DisplayPort. Game Booster 330 is a separate high-frame-rate mode and should not be confused with native 4K/330Hz operation; its reduced-resolution limit is not stated in the reviewed US specification sheet. The 100-inch documentation instead identifies its boosted mode as Game Booster 288.
Motion handling
At 24 frames per second, Tech Steve observed visible jitter with motion enhancement disabled. Selecting Custom under Motion Enhancement and raising the judder control to approximately 8–10 noticeably smoothed the moving test object. This gives viewers useful control, but film motion may require manual adjustment rather than looking ideal with default settings. Hisense also includes MEMC-based AI Smooth Motion and black-frame insertion.
Sound quality
The 55- through 100-inch models include a 2.1.2-channel speaker system with a built-in subwoofer, Dolby Atmos, DTS Virtual:X and Devialet tuning. Output is rated at 50W from 55 through 85 inches and 60W at 100 inches. The 116-inch version receives substantially different 6.2.2-channel, 110W CineStage X Surround audio with dual built-in subwoofers. AI Clear Voice and Dolby dialogue enhancement are available, and compatible Hisense soundbars can operate with the TV speakers through Hi-Concerto.
Smart TV experience
The U7SG runs Google TV with Gemini and supports Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa compatibility, Chromecast, AirPlay and Apple HomeKit. Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 and an ATSC 3.0 tuner are documented. Tech Steve used an Apple TV during picture testing because it allowed him to force SDR, HDR or Dolby Vision output manually. Native streaming applications ordinarily select the available format automatically, so an external source is useful when comparing signal-specific picture modes.
Calibration notes
For everyday SDR viewing, Standard offers a more natural presentation than Vivid, while Theater Day provides a warmer image with more visible background detail. Tech Steve preferred SDR Theater overall. For Dolby Vision, he favored Dolby Vision IQ because Dolby Vision Dark appeared too dim and concealed more shadow detail. Automatic Intelligent Mode is a convenient option for viewers who want the television to choose settings, while the ambient-light sensor can be enabled or disabled separately. For 24 fps material, try Custom Motion Enhancement with judder around 8–10, then reduce it if the result looks overly smooth.

The 100-inch model is the practical large-format option, with narrow-position legs and stronger 60W audio. The 116-inch model is for dedicated big-screen installations, adding 3,168 zones, USB-C DisplayPort and a powerful 6.2.2-channel audio system, but it drops one HDMI input and carries dramatically higher size, power and price demands. Across the range, film fans may need to tune the judder control, and brightness, mounting requirements and audio hardware should be checked for the exact size before buying.
