Picture quality
On the reviewed 55-inch M80H, colors looked natural and reasonably accurate by eye, with convincing skin tones and no obvious oversaturation. The image appeared cleaner and more refined than a typical Crystal UHD television, although it did not reach the perceived performance level of Samsung’s Neo QLED range. Minor dirty-screen effect and uniformity variations were visible on the reviewed unit. These observations apply to the sampled 55-inch television and should not be assumed to describe every unit or screen size.
HDR performance
The M80H supports HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG, but not Dolby Vision. Initial viewing showed respectable brightness and well-controlled blooming, although highlight intensity did not appear as vibrant as some aggressively bright Mini LED competitors. Samsung does not publish peak SDR or HDR brightness figures or hardware dimming-zone counts. Gaming performance
The M80H has a native 144Hz panel and accepts up to 3840 x 2160 at 144Hz from a compatible PC and graphics card through all three HDMI inputs. It also supports VRR, ALLM, FreeSync Premium and HGiG. Samsung’s DLG mode can accept up to 240Hz from a compatible PC only by reducing resolution, so it is not a native 4K 240Hz mode. The Gaming Hub supports compatible cloud-gaming services and Bluetooth controllers without requiring a console.
Motion handling
Tech Steve observed a small amount of motion blur with 24fps material. The 60fps sample looked more natural and realistic, although some judder remained. Motion settings were not extensively adjusted during this first look.
Sound quality
The built-in 20-watt, two-channel speaker system sounded acceptable for everyday television viewing but lacked the impact expected from a dedicated audio system. Object Tracking Sound Lite, Adaptive Sound+, Active Voice Amplifier and AI Sound Controller are included. Q-Symphony can coordinate the TV speakers with a compatible Samsung soundbar. The TV supports eARC but has no optical digital-audio output, and Samsung does not list built-in Dolby Atmos.
Smart TV experience
One UI Tizen offers streaming apps, an internet browser, Samsung TV Plus, connected-device management, cloud gaming, SmartThings controls and optional artwork. SmartThings made initial setup straightforward and provided phone-based control. Voice and casting features include Bixby, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant compatibility, Apple AirPlay and Google Cast. The interface showed approximately 7.93GB of application storage on the reviewed TV. Samsung specifies up to seven years of Tizen operating-system updates, subject to model year and internet availability. The included battery-powered remote does not have a dedicated input button or Samsung’s solar charging feature.
